The Zombie is a classic cocktail created by the renowned restaurateur and mixologist Donn Beach. Donn allegedly crafted the cocktail for a frequent client who was suffering from a hangover and required a revitalizing effect prior to a business engagement. Later, when Donn inquired as to how the hangover remedy functioned, he was informed, "I felt like the living dead; it transformed me into a zombie." The drink's name was thus conceived.
Despite the eerie connotation that the name may evoke, the Zombie is a citrus-forward Tiki cocktail that will have you yearning for a beach day rather than an undead invasion.
Makes 1 serving
Ingredients:
25ml dark rum
25ml white rum
50ml lime juice
150ml pineapple juice
ice
1 tsp grenadine
Let's mix!
Pour the rums and fruit juices into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake hard until the outside of the shaker feels really cold.
Strain the mixture into a tall glass or hurricane glass filled with ice, then slowly pour in the grenadine to color the drink. Enjoy!
